Meet Chance! He truly is a "black dog, second chance" dog! Jimmy, the Rowan County dog warden in Kentucky, picked up this guy. He is about 6 months old with a big loving heart. The dog warden actually asked if the volunteers could dip him to see if he would improve before putting him down. That says a lot! He weighs about 35 lbs but will probably get to about 75 lbs.

He already looked a little better after his first dip. They went ahead and purchased the Cephalexin antibiotic. Demodeptic mange is a mange that the mother passes on to the pups in the blood. However, once treated, it may never show back up and remains dormant. It is not contagious! Though rare, stress might trigger a flare up, however the new "Promeris" which is like Frontline, treats demodeptic mange, so if it ever started back, a treatment of Promeris drops nips it in the bud.

We think he looks like a lab/rottweiler mix. He has a pretty big square head. He is very friendly and our hearts aches for him.

Once Chance is better, he'll be placed up for adoption. His adoption donation is $175, and includes a heart worm test, first month of flea meds and heart worm pill, neutering, deworming, rabies, vaccinations and health certificate.
