Black Dog, Second Chance

bdsclogoBlack Dog, Second Chance

Black dogs are the last to be adopted and the first to be euthanized in shelters.

For whatever reason, people do not like black dogs. They are rarely adopted from shelters and the most commonly euthanized. They are frequently ignored even though they may be friendly and well behaved, while the other lighter-colored dogs get adopted quickly. Whatever the reason, it is true, these dogs generally wait THREE TIMES longer to finally be adopted. In turn, the shelters give up on them and they are euthanized. Our mission is to rescue these black dogs, just moments before euthanasia, and help them find their forever homes through an adoption process.

Our mission:

BDSC is a NO-KILL, 501(c)3 rescue. We work endlessly to save abused, neglected (physically and emotionally) and homeless dogs. All the funding that is used to save our rescue dogs is received through generous donations or our own fundraising efforts.

Your donation is tax deductable and we work solely on a volunteer basis and any money donated to our organization goes to pay for much needed vet bills. Any/all advertisement, website upkeep and misc. related things are paid for by the BDSC board members, out of our own pockets as an in-kind donation and do not come out of the general BDSC fund.

BDSC does not receive any funding from the county, city, state, town, or federal governments. Our rescue does not receive tax dollars of any kind... we're only able to help animals in need from fundraising efforts from our loyal volunteers and generous donations from our kind supporters.
